What is CRLA?

CRLA stands for the College Reading and Learning Association, which is an organization of learning professionals that offers certification to its member institutions, which can then in turn train their tutors and certify them according to the International TUTOR Training Program Certification guidelines. Highline’s Academic Success Centers are CRLA certified, which means that you, as our tutors , can gain international certification that is recognized in any other CRLA organization.

What does certification involve?

CRLA has split certification into three levels and provides guidelines on training topics for each level. The certification requirements are built into our class, so you don’t have to worry about anything extra. Assignments are posted to Canvas, and your reading materials will be posted here.

Most tutors move through one level per quarter, as long as they meet the number of hours of tutoring required.
