Resources for All Tutors
In the left navigation bar, you’ll find pages that will help you be a more effective tutor and a more socially and culturally competent global citizen.
Handy Resources
This list is a work in progress. If you find another great resource, email it to Shon or one of the members of the Online Presence Committee.
- Excelsior College Online Writing Lab. This is a bit like Purdue’s OWL, with open access resources for all parts of the writing and research process, including methods for effective reading.
- Creating Accessible Documents in Microsoft Word. Any handouts or digital materials created by the Writing Center for publication must be accessible to users of screen readers. This page from UW explains how to do this. (It’s way easier than it sounds.)
- WLN: A Journal of Writing Center Scholarship. This is a peer-reviewed journal that focuses on writing center theory and practice. Each issue has a Tutor’s Column written by a current or former writing tutor. Some of our class readings come from WLN. If you’re doing a research project, this would be a great resource for you.
